As you may know, at least 70% of dental practices in our area are now owned by corporate dental groups. There is a distinct difference in the level of care provided by private practices versus corporate offices. At Chandler Dental Excellence, we are steadfast in our commitment to remaining a private practice to prioritize personalized care tailored to your needs.
However, like many small businesses, we are navigating increasing costs for labor and supplies. Unlike other industries, dental contracts limit what we can charge, as insurance companies dictate fee schedules and reimbursement rates. Unfortunately, these rates have not kept pace with rising costs and, in some cases, have even been reduced.
Changes to Our Relationship with MetLife Dental Insurance
After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to adjust our relationship with MetLife Dental Insurance. This decision ensures we can continue to offer the high-quality care you deserve. Here’s what this change means for you as a MetLife customer:
- Although we will not be directly in network with MetLife, the majority of our patients will shift to be IN Network under the Careington fee schedule.
- You can continue to receive care at Chandler Dental Excellence.
- In most cases, we will remain an option for your dental care, even with this status change.
- We will still accept and process your insurance claims.
- We will submit claims on your behalf, and MetLife will pay either under the Careington fee schedule or as an out-of-network provider.
- Out-of-pocket costs may vary slightly.
- Depending on your specific plan, your out-of-pocket expenses could increase slightly. However, in most cases, routine dental cleanings will still be covered at 100%.
You may soon receive a letter from MetLife recommending that you switch to another dentist. While this is standard language from insurance providers, we sincerely hope that your experience with us will encourage you to remain a part of our practice.
No-Risk Appointment Offer
To ease this transition, we are offering a no-risk appointment for your first dental hygiene visit as an out-of-network provider. For any restorative work, we can submit a preauthorization request to determine your insurance coverage and out-of-pocket responsibility beforehand.
